My starting point for the Kink Vase was an exploration of how new forms could be created through the digital manipulation of simple shapes. The design combines this appreciation of modern technology with traditional ceramic craft, resulting in a piece that is both contemporary and sculptural. The graphic and playful appearance of the Kink Vase—combined with its double opening, which suggests a new way to arrange flowers—infuses its surroundings with joy. 

EARNEST STUDIO ON THE DESIGN 

The Kink Vase brings a contemporary form to the archetypal flower vase through a combination of traditional craftsmanship and playful design language. With its double opening, the Kink Vase adds a sculptural sentiment to the room, even when not in use. The design is made in porcelain that has been glazed on the inside for a refined touch.

Earnest Studio was founded by American-born, Rotterdam-based designer Rachel Griffin. With a background in graphic design, she spent five years producing exhibitions and books before moving to the Netherlands to study at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2007. She launched her own studio in 2012, with a focus on furniture, lighting and accessories.

• Sand

• Light Blue.

The vase is moulded, fired once, glazed, stamped and then fired a second time. 

The Kink Vase is created with pigmented porcelain, glazed on the inside and raw on the outside.
