I wanted the basket to have a non-obtrusive nature. Polymer felt combined with a soft form give the basket a friendly appearance. The name Restore is inspired by the fact that baskets are made of recycled PET bottles.
MIKA TOLVANEN ON THE DESIGN

Made from a felt created with recycled plastic bottle fibres, the Restore range is functional and versatile storage that can be used for almost any object from laundry to blankets to children’s toys. Each basket comes in a variety of colours and offers a textural, quirky addition to any home or professional space.

A series of storage baskets in soft PET felt available in three sizes. The baskets are ideal for storing magazines, office supplies, toys, wood logs and much more.

Mika Tolvanen is part of the Finnish Rehti Design group. After graduating from the Royal College of Art with a Master in design in 2001, Mika established his own design office in Helsinki. He has since worked with some of the world’s top designers and manufacturers.

The material is PET fibres. A percentage of the product comes from recycled plastic bottles, which are granulated, heated and blown like little fibres that are subsequently dyed. The fibres are worked together like mats, which can be pressed over heat-influenced forms that enables the material to maintain shape.
