About Anchor Ceramics

Anchor

Anchor was founded in 2012. The studio is led by founder, Bruce Rowe, Creative Director and Claire Hatch, Managing Director. The studio cooperatively makes the Anchor range; beginning with intention, idea development through models and design drawings, prototyping and testing and finally production and object realisation. The studio actively seeks ways to enrich sensorial experiences and the environments people occupy.  Self-initiated projects along with commissioned works and objects keep this studio ethos evolving.

Input from master craftspeople with skills in artisanal manufacturing, technical knowledge and the design process inform the ongoing refinement and development of the processes and products. Established and emerging techniques and technologies are used to realise the objects. We consider this 'ideas to object' approach to be a true form of collaboration, connecting the imagination, designer and maker.

The Anchor studio is committed to a healthy and robust local design and manufacturing industry. Made in Melbourne, Australia, our production model educates, builds skills and knowledge and supports a host of local, creative businesses with the same ideals and hopes for sustainable creative enterprise.
