About Anchor

Anchor was founded in 2012 and is led by founder and Creative Director Bruce Rowe and Managing Director Claire Hatch. Based in Melbourne, the studio produces a collection of ceramic lighting defined by a close relationship between design and making.

Each piece is developed through an iterative process of sketches, models and prototyping before moving into production. The studio works collaboratively with skilled craftspeople, combining traditional ceramic techniques with contemporary manufacturing methods to refine both form and performance.

This ‘ideas to object’ approach underpins the Anchor collection, resulting in lighting that balances materiality, durability and considered light output.

All lighting is made in Melbourne, supporting a local network of designers and makers. The studio is committed to sustaining Australian design and manufacturing, while continuing to evolve its process through both self-initiated and commissioned work.
