The Miko Designs story
Translating from Japanese as ‘beautiful child’, Miko is one of our beautiful children.
Miko Designs has been a journey of creativity and passion, in 2018 culminating in the opening of our furniture store in Canberra’s Fyshwick. Along the way, our experiences have been as diverse as they are colourful: from a lively stint in a puppetry company to meticulously kerning in QuarkXPress during our graphic design days, cutting film, and managing design and typesetting projects. In their own way, each step has shaped what Miko represents today.
Miko is inspired by the endless creative possibilities and other’s creative processes. We value conceptual and experimental art and design, underpinned by common principles of design applied across disciplines.
Our furniture and lighting showroom is carefully curated to match a range of styles from mid-century modern, scandanianian
Miko is dedicated to cultivating a culture of quality design, creativity, and innovation. We provide a platform and opportunities for local creatives in Canberra and across Australia. Our vision is to collaborate with designers who share our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices—those who craft enduring, timeless pieces designed to last a lifetime, rather than contributing to the cycle of mass-produced, disposable items.

Good design is as little design as possible -- Dieter Rams
As a retailer of designer furniture and lighting in Canberra, our brand needs to reflect clean, modern design. Having worked through many concepts and iterations, we couldn't be happier with the final result!
